YOUTH PLAYERS - CODE OF CONDUCT

This Contract between Finchley Cricket Club (the “Club”) and the Colts Member (the “Colts”) sets out the minimum standards that are expected by the Club and the Terms and Conditions upon which the Colts undertake to play for the Club.
THE PLAYER AGREES TO:
- The Club operates a NO PAY - NO PLAY system. All Colts are required to pay their annual subscription which covers all training, coaching and Family Club membership for the year by latest 1st May 2009. After that date no Colt will be selected until subscription has been paid in full.
- Home matches at Arden Field - All Colts must arrive at the ground and be ready to commence warm-up NOT LATER than 30 minutes before the start of the match.
- Away matches – All Colts must be in the car-park at Finchley and ready to leave, with kit at the pre-advised meet time – or, must be at the match venue and ready to commence warm-up NOT LATER than 30 minutes before the start of a competitive match.
- All Colts must wear Club shirts and caps in Club matches.
- All Colts agree to represent the Club to the best of their ability and in a spirit of friendly competition in accordance with the Laws of cricket and respect for the umpires, opposition and other team members. Bad behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated either at designated training sessions or at Club matches.
- Colts who do not attend designated training sessions are required to make themselves available for selection for matches by contacting the Colts Manager or Team Manager before the preceding training session.
- Having been selected to play for the Club, players who become unavailable must contact the Colts manager or Team Manager not less than 48 hours before the match.
- No Colt will be selected to play for the Club unless a parent or guardian has signed this Players Contract on behalf of the Colt and returned a signed original to the Colts Manager.
- Abide by the Spirit, as well as the letter, of the Laws of cricket
- Accept the umpire’s decision at all times and not to show any dissent
- Not to abuse alcohol or tobacco, or any other stimulant or harmful substance
- Play cricket in a competitive manner but maintain the highest standards of sportsmanship
THE PARENTS/GUARDIANS AGREE TO:
- Encourage and help the player meet targets, including abiding by this Code of Conduct
- Sit away from the player / team on match days
- Support the player without pressure, praise good work and refrain from criticising lapses
- Set a good example to the player
- Respect the opportunity given to the player
- Communicate with the Finchley CC staff, keeping them informed about matters affecting the player
Finchley CC AGREES TO PROVIDE:
- A safe environment in which the player can learn and develop without fear of abuse
- Physical screening, monitoring and support for the player
- A structured cricket learning programme, appropriate to the age, ability and growth of the player
- Participation in cricket matches arranged or approved by Finchley CC
- Trained and qualified coaching and other staff and facilities
- Guidelines to the player and parents/guardians on the best ways for them to contribute to the player’s cricketing and personal development
- Regular communication and reports to the player and parents/guardians on the player’s progress
- Comprehensive insurance cover
The principles that underpin the ECB Child Protection Policy that relate to this Code of Conduct are:
- The child’s welfare is paramount
- All children, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief or sexual identity have the right to protection from abuse
- All children have the right to be safe and treated with dignity and respect
Any breach of the Code may lead to the player being warned as to his/her future conduct or in serious cases being suspended or barred from participation in Finchley CC activities.
Please note that failure of a player to abide by this Code of Conduct will mean the player may be stopped from participating in the event and/or sent home.
